DISCIPLINED THINKING

I WISH I could have a standing monthly dinner appointment with Dr. Daniel Amen, neuroscientist (brain expert) and psychiatrist. His work on brain health and its connections to wellness is fascinating!!

There have been no dinner meetings to speak of yet - but I do have insights that I've pulled from his work that I can share with you. According to Dr. Amen, our brain is a three-pound supercomputer that is the command and control center running our life! Its responsible for determining how we think, feel, act, how we get along with other people, how thoughtful we are, how well we do at work, school, or with family, how polite or rude we are, how well we think on our feet, and the brain also influences our emotional well being. Wow!! Fascinating, right?

Check this out - there are one hundred billion nerve cells in your brain and every nerve cell has many connections to other nerve cells. "Our brain has more connections in it than there are stars in the universe"

So - with all that going on, it only makes sense to give our minds an organized closet (or maybe a messy closet). That's what a journal is to the disciplined thinker, it functions as an organized closet for our brains.
